Dragon Blog Super #16: What If Vegeta Went Ultra First?

Hello, Ticketholders and Redditors!

This week's AniMonday Filler is another comment feature from the MasakoX subReddit: a reply to a post from GokuKing922 titled, "What If Vegeta got Ultra Ego Instead?", which he admits doesn't do the concept justice. Here it is:
The idea is that instead of Ultra Instinct from Goku, Vegeta unlocks Ultra Ego during the Tournament of Power. How would it go?
And here is my off-the-cuff response:
Use the manga continuity where Goku used hakai on Zamasu, and Vegeta starts his training with Beerus early (food bribe!) because he's still chasing Goku. Beerus has more of a connection to hakai than UI, so he'd agree on the basis of the food and hakai being easier to teach because he's lazy. Goku would struggle with UI because Whis is more detached as a teacher (even more so since Goku figured out hakai before UI), and so Goku's training would suffer, causing him to work towards Blue Evolution instead. Everything else would progress the same, just with Vegeta's Ego boost getting him through fights with Kefla and Jiren (the latter getting him disqualified when he uses a Final Hakai Explosion that kills Jiren). Goku desperately uses Kaio-ken Evolution to muscle his way through Toppo's hakai (if Freiza can handle hakai energy and Goku's Kaio-ken Blue can overpower time, this can work, too). Android 16 still survives the chaos and wins, wishing back the erased Universes and saving all reality. The Broly Movie is basically the same, just with Vegeta not willing to use UE after he lost control against Jiren, instead of Goku going "oops! I forgot cuz writin'." The Moro Arc resumes the status quo with Goku training with Merus, and Vegeta training on Yardrat (but for different reasons this time). Maybe instead of Granolah, the Saiyans go to U6 Sadala for more Vegeta development? The rest is yours!

I look forward to seeing what GokuKing922 does with this (and what TheMultiBrony21 does with the Future Androids turning good from last week's post), but if you'd like to see me continue this idea and elaborate on some of the details in a future post, let me know in the comments down below, like this post, subscribe to my blog, and follow me on TumblrReddit, and Facebook for the latest news on my content.
Tomorrow, Ticket Stubs makes a return for Independence Day with an old review that might kick off some social media fireworks, and later this week, a comic book with no title gets a Retrospective review, TBT 2023's selections are Dead In the Water, and stuff turning into robots is Just the Ticket. So Stay Tuned, and

Illustrious,
Owl.
