NPO #33: Pack to School

Image
Article by Sean Wilkinson, Looking for Work. Greetings, Ticketholders and potential employers! Today's article, which is less of an article and more of a portfolio showcase in line with my earlier New Piece Offerings  publications, wherein I shared old poetry and essays with a "how it's done and what I could do better if I wrote it now" educational style. And because it's Back to School month (I haven't decided yet if I'm going to make this a regular occurrence for the month, but school generally resumes in September), I've put together this adaptation of my capstone presentation at WGU for your education, information, and amusement. So please remember to  Enroll As A Ticketholder  if you haven't already, comment a piece of your mind at the bottom of this post, help out my ad revenue as you read because I have to start paying my student loans soon and teachers probably get paid more than I do, and follow me on  Tumblr ,  Reddit ,  Facebook , and

NPO #32: Ten Favorite Final Girls (and Guys)

Image
Article by Sean Wilkinson, a.k.a. the Ticketmaster You may have noticed, if you're an avid reader of my posts (particularly Time Drops ), that today's content was a last-minute addition to the line-up for this week. But seeing as how I did one of these last year , and I didn't have to be a Patron or watch an entire franchise or genre to contribute to an episode of Dead Last , I would do this again. The deadline has passed for you Ticketholders out there to give your lists, but there is no  deadline for remembering to  Become A Ticketholder  if you haven't already, comment your favorite horror movie survivor at the bottom of this post, help out my ad revenue as you read so I trade piece of mind for peace of mind, and follow me on  Tumblr ,  Reddit ,  Facebook , and  LinkedIn  to like what you see and receive the latest news on my content. For those who don't know, there is a trope in slasher movies (and occasionally, non-slasher horror movies and non-horror movies) c

NPO #31: Blogger Links Are Bad Now

Image
Article by Sean Wilkinson, a.k.a. the Ticketmaster. Most of what you will read here is from the Ticketmaster's Note  in my Prehysteria! Prehysteria!  review from last Friday. Sorry for leaving the doubled text in, but hopefully it will help illustrate my point by making this post as hard to read as it is infuriating to try to edit a long post with a lot of link insertions. Except for the call to action, which I just copy in from other posts and add little puns and references to reflect the column or subject matter. So even if you don't like that I'm being a rhetorical pain in the ass, please remember to  Become A Ticketholder  if you haven't already, comment a piece of your mind at the bottom of this post, help out my ad revenue as you read, and follow me on  Tumblr ,  Reddit ,  Facebook , and  LinkedIn  to like what you see, receive the latest news on my content, and let Google Google know what anti-retro scum waffles they're being to blooming and booming millenni

NPO #30: Twelve Days Of Christmas 2022

Image
Article by Sean Wilkinson, a.k.a. the TixMaster I'm throwing this together as a surprise addendum to my most successful month of all time, which began with some foolishness and fertility as we pranked each other to honor the second coming of Jesus, and continued with more fertility and fear as we looked back on Alien  and its sequels . There was also some One Piece  and a few Tales From Wonderland  thrown in for good measure. And with the full Omnibusted  collection of my Wonderland  reviews coming up tomorrow (which were compiled and edited without the third Volume of Tales  back in Christmas 2022 because I hadn't re-read them yet), I thought I'd share the rhymes I included in that year's Countdown to TixMas  special for those who weren't aware of them back then. So in honor of Jesus, and at risk of sounding blasphemous, please remember to  Become A Ticketholder  if you haven't already, comment at the bottom of this post, help out my ad revenue as you read, and

NPO #29: February Madness...In March

Image
Article by Sean Wilkinson, a.k.a. A Glutton For Poll-nishment Sorry for the PUNishment, Ticketholders. But some of you out there deserve it for misunderstanding your assignment in February. For those who didn't participate in the poll last month, I did a tournament poll of fictional women from various popular songs. The contenders, presented here in alphabetical order, were: "Billie Jean" by Michael Jackson Dani the Girl from "Scar Tissue,"   "By the Way," and "Dani California" by the Red Hot Chili Peppers Eileen from "Come On, Eileen" by Dexy's Midnight Runners Jenny from "867-5309" by Tommy TuTone "Jesse's Girl" by Rick Springfield "Jolene" by Dolly Parton "Lady Marmalade" by Patti LaBelle "Lola" by The Kinks "Mandy" by Barry Manilow "Polyphene Pam" by The Beatles "Rhiannon" by Fleetwood Mac Rosie, from "Whole Lotta Rosie"

Dragon Blog Super #20: On Universe 11

Image
Article by Sean Wilkinson, a.k.a. The Animeister This post wasn't scheduled in Saturday's Time Drops , but I got sucked into watching/listening to a YouTube video on the lore of the Street Fighter franchise on Sunday and it got me in a mood to do some speculation about Dragon Ball Super . From what I've seen and heard over the past year, there are some major shake-ups and power plays going on behind the scenes that are affecting how anime, manga , and video game content is being approached and will be approached in the future, such as the manga  adaptation of the Super Hero  movie (making this the first time a manga  has had filler?), the choice to keep to plots within Universe Seven for the time being, characters included in current mobile games, Xenoverse 2 , Super Dragon Ball Heroes , and the upcoming Sparking Zero , and the choice to go with the Daima  streaming series instead of adapting the post-T.O.P. arcs into anime form. Well, Daima  is more of a nostalgic choice

NPO #28: The List (2024 Edition)

Image
Article by Sean Wilkinson, a.k.a. The Ticketmaster a.k.a. The Trooper? New Year, new banner, Ticketholders! I didn't have one for NPO / New Piece Offerings  yet, so I Googled "Piece Of Mind," and the Iron Maiden album cover was the most popular result. I am not familiar with their work; I'm just giving credit. There was also an Iron Maiden font available online (the same place I got the Dragon Ball font for my Dragon Blog Z/Super  banners), so into PhotoShop it all went, and whoever Bob is, he is now your uncle. Before we continue, please remember (and remind your friends, family, and your new Uncle Bob) to  Become A Ticketholder  if you haven't already, comment at the bottom of this post, help out my ad revenue as you read, and follow me on  Tumblr ,  Reddit ,  Facebook , and  LinkedIn  to like what you see and receive the latest mental fragments of news on my content. As I have often said in the past, I began this whole review "business" back in 2004

State Of the TicketVerse Address 2023

Image
Article by Sean Wilkinson, a.k.a. The Ticketmaster 2023 has been a mixed bag of blessings and curses. First, the worst, as the old, elementary school ranking mnemonic goes: between my mother's shoulder surgery and colonoscopy, my father's multiple seizures and heart surgery, our multiple medical bills from such incidents, my continued repayment of my ambulance bill and gambling debt that I mentioned in last year's State Of the TicketVerse Address , our car breaking down and having to be donated, work in the food service industry continuing its increasing trend of suckitude, and the death of my pet parrot, brother, and friend, Doodle , I've...been presented with many opportunities to strengthen and mature myself, to put these negatives in a positive light. On the less important side of things, I got banned from posting on several subreddits because their rules are weird and strict, I found out that Twitter (which I refuse to acknowledge as X) was still a sleaze pit, I f

NPO #27: Ten Favorite Horror Movie Deaths

Image
Article by Sean Wilkinson, a.k.a. Horror Timelines fan. I like horror movies, Ticketholders! And I have recently become a fan of Josh Speigel's Horror Timelines channel on YouTube. He also does movie series continuity videos for comedy, action, and sci-fi films, as well as Dead Last ranking videos and other top ten/list of ten videos, and has recently become known for his massive 80s Project series, wherein he covers and rates every sci-fi and horror movie from the eponymous decade (including some meme shorts where he dons Dustin Ferguson -quality old man makeup to fake-announce the 90s Project and the 2000s Project). Today, Josh dropped a video requesting suggestions for a potential Dead Last list of horror movie deaths, so I thought I would take a crack at it, coming up with my own list of ten favorite horror movie deaths. I and all contributors have also been asked to rank those deaths. It was hard to rank these as being "better" or more favored than one another, so
