GFT Retrospective #53: The Good Witch, Omnibusted

Image
Article by Sean Wilkinson, Bewitched, Bothered, Bewildered, and Omnibusted . In a recent GFT Retrospective  post, I took an Omnibusted  approach to the history of a long-neglected character ( Cindy Monroe, a.k.a. Cinderella ). But she isn't the only blonde, female Zenescope character (nor will she be the last) to have a long hiatus in her series appearances. Today, I once again get Omnibusted  with the hair color/gender combination that has had many jokes made at its expense (are dumb blonde jokes still a thing, or have they gone the way of racist caricatures, body image shaming, homophobia, transphobia, spectrum-shaming, and slut-shaming?) despite claiming to have "more fun" than an unspecified other-group, whoever that might be. Anyway, if you've been following the Retrospective  or reading the comics ( ComiXology has a super-affordable monthly subscription with access to all the trades, and new single-issue releases, or you can go to Zenescope's website and b

Dragon Blog Z #15: What If the Future Androids Turned Good?

Image
Article by Sean Wilkinson, a.k.a. a MasakoX Fan. As explained in this week's Time Drops  post, this will be a full series eventually, but I'm just releasing it here as AniMonday Filler  in sort of an idea pitch/comment showcase format to give myself more time to work on the Odyssey Arc, Retrospective  and Omnibusted  editing, and academia. So in the meantime,  please remember to like and comment down below, subscribe to my blog, and follow me on  Tumblr ,  Reddit , and  Facebook  for the latest news on my content. Credit to the following post by  TheMultiBrony21  on the MasakoX subreddit : Something I've been curious about is: What if the future versions of 17 and 18 turned good? I'm a huge fan of the Androids and have wondered how the story would have gone had they turned good (I kinda see good versions of the Future Androids helping rebuild as well as also forming a sort of new Z Fighter Team). Unfortunately, because I'm terrible at giving villains redemption arcs

Time Drops #22: Week Of June 26, 2023

Article by Sean Wilkinson, a.k.a. The Ticketmaster Not so much with the Marketing Master, though. I'll be starting Q4 of my Business Simulation at WGU this week, and although my fake bicycle business is doing well above average (ranking second in the virtual Global Market and around tenth among actual student players), my advertising strategy has been among the worst-performing for six virtual months. I hope to be done with the full simulation and working on the final paper within two weeks. As for the non-academic stuff, I am watching Dragon Ball Z filler, Dragon Ball GT , MasakoX's "What If Freiza Turned Good?" and "Revelation F" stories, and skimming Homer's epic for inspiration with future parts of my "What If GOKU Was NEVER BORN?" Odyssey Arc . But also, editing posts on the usual pablum to publish and promote for your perpetual pleasure (alliteration! Phrasing! And coffee!). So please continue remembering to like and comment at th

GFT Retrospective #52: The Devil's Gambit

Article by Sean Wilkinson, Gambling healthy for once? Over the last week or so, I have been playing Vampire Survivors on my phone. It is a Castlevania -influenced, Rogue-like , mob-survival game with hundreds of objectives, unlockables, collectibles, upgrades, customization options, and super-affordable DLC that expands gameplay possibilities even more without getting all predatory about it. Unfortunately, it is also super-easy to break with the right build (the level added for the latest update, which has the randomization cranked past human patience, right down to what room you warp to, can be completed if you glitch out of bounds with one of the weapons and use the map and onscreen icons to navigate to each of the collectibles), and with a little guidance (because you have to be a dev to find a lot of these secrets without help), I completed it in a little over a week. There are other end-game challenges you can set for yourself, like "do X with every character," "do

Dragon Blog Super #14: What If GOKU Was NEVER BORN? (Odyssey Arc I)

Article by Sean Wilkinson, a.k.a. A MasakoX Fan, Pandering to the Fandom. I hit another mental block, this time with my Son Of Bardock? side story that will figure into the plot much later. I also fell down a Reddit hole and started giving ideas to other What If? writers, and found one I might enjoy doing once I decide that this is done: "What If Future 17 & 18 Turned Good?" I have some bizarre ideas for that one! But first, let's set the scene for today's chapter in a world without Goku. Last time in Dragon Blog Super , I covered some filler episodes of the Super  anime, like "The Baseball Episode" where this version saw Yamcha and the Z-Fighters faced off against the Otherworld Tournament warriors in America's/Japan's passtime, the "Gohan Goes Hollywood" episodes with Kumu filling the Gohan role and Straps and Marin inspiring Dr. Hedo's favorite Sentai  show, and a magic-powered Chi-Chi taking Yurin's spot in Tien's doj

Time Drops #21: Week Of June 19, 2023

Article by Sean Wilkinson, a.k.a. The Ticketmaster I am happy with the first part of my "Odyssey Arc," so after a few link additions and graphics, I'm going to release it on Monday. Also, school is fun again. It's technical as hell because I have to essentially speedrun a company through its first six quarters of operation, including strategy, stores, products (one of which is the ugliest racing bike I've ever seen, but I know nothing about how a racing bike is supposed to look), manpower, sales quotas, and more. It's fun, but I'm halfway through Q2 and my brain hurts. What doesn't make my brain hurt is when my loyal Ticketholders remember to like and comment down below, subscribe to my blog, help out my ad revenue, and check out my social media at the links below to keep up with the latest news on my content and calendars thereof. GFT Retrospective #51: Godfather Death

Image
Article by Sean Wilkinson, Wishing Death would stand somewhere else. That's a reference to today's issue up for Retrospective review (as I've been known to do in these things), as well as my recent loss of a pet, friend, and family member of thirty-one years, whom I buried yesterday. Details can be found on  Tumblr ,  Reddit , and  Facebook , as well as the latest news on my content. Also, please continue to like and comment down below, and subscribe to my blog to show your support. Here's this week's review: GFT #46: Godfather Death Like The Devil’s Brother before it, Godfather Death has its origins in several tales from the Kinder Und Hausmarchen collection by the Brothers’ Grimm, among them The Godfather , The Strange Feast , and (the closest to Zenescope’s version) Godfather Death . Each of the original stories involves a farmer or some other destitute character with a ridiculous number of children (the Brothers’ Grimm were fond of using the number twelve i

NPO #25: Questionable Advertising

Image
Article by Sean Wilkinson, Making better choices than corporate America? Not that that's a high bar; I recently pulled a fake snack company out of a corporate responsibility crisis and helped them figure out how to make more money with social media and new chip flavors, and the best thing they really had going for them was brand recognition and the lamest slogan of all time. I suppose "How do you dip your chip?" (not, "How do you  dip your chip?" or, "How do you dip your  chip?" with zero emphasis, not that either emphasis made it much better; the string of words itself is uninspired) is a better slogan than "remember to like and comment down below, subscribe to my blog, and follow me on  Tumblr ,  Reddit , and  Facebook  for the latest news on my content," but I'm blogging, not selling imaginary, noisy, hard-to-chew slices of fried potato to influencer moms because my imaginary marketing department is too stupid to come up with their ow

Time Drops #20: Week Of June 12, 2023

Article by Sean Wilkinson, a.k.a. The Ticketmaster I am currently working on the next part of What If GOKU Was NEVER BORN?, which might have some scope creep issues and feature a fan-made alien race or two. I don't foresee getting it done this week, but know that it is in the works. School isn't going as quickly as previously expected, either, as I have to work through a long-term business simulation, rather than popping out a simple marketing document with minimal research. On the plus-side, it could be fun. And speaking of things that could be fun, and speaking for the first time about forced transitions because I need to make one right now, please remember to like and comment down below, subscribe to my blog, help out my ad revenue, and check out my social media at the links below to keep up with the latest news on my content and calendars thereof.
