GFT Retrospective #49: Cinderella - Omnibusted

Image
Article by Sean Wilkinson, a.k.a. Someone You Have Followed For A Long Time. If you are among the three or so Ticketholders who know me from Yahoo! Groups, that means since 2004. I even put it as my username on  Tumblr ! If you've been with me since the beginning of my time on Blogger , that means it's been since 2012. Whether you've been reading my stuff for eleven years, nineteen years, somewhere in between, or not at all, welcome to the latest New/Old Comic Book Day entry in the Grimm Fairy Tales   Retrospective ! Also, please remember to like and comment down below, subscribe to my blog, and follow me on Tumblr,  Reddit , and  Facebook  for the latest news on my content. And today, it's going to be a big one! You may recall from last week's  GFT Retrospective #48: The Devil's Brother  that Fenton was about to deliver a sword to “someone we have watched for a long time” (there's my a.k.a. tie-in!) before he had his origin story flashback. Well, that &quo

Anime-BAWklog #7: Spotlightning Round (Part II)

Image
Article by Sean Wilkinson, the Animeister is back? Back in 2020, when I was still trying to get through Accounting coursework, juggle and hide my gacha gambling debt from my family, and crank out weekly Marvel, anime, and movie reviews, I started a limited catch-up review series called Anime-BAWklog  that compiled my offline anime reviews in alphabetical order and lasted for four parts. In early 2021 (before my relapse into gambling and turn to alcoholism), I put out a fifth part, which I simply called the Spotlightning Round , and was a Critical Quickies  take on a bunch of series that I didn't have much to say about or weren't interesting enough to give the Anime Spotlight  treatment. And finally, in 2022, following an epiphany and gall bladder surgery that gave me a much-needed kick in the ass, I released  Back From Burnout? (AniMonday Edition) , an article that didn't share the BAWklog  or Spotlightning Round  branding, but was in the same vein, so I'm considering i

Article by Sean Wilkinson, a.k.a. The Ticketmaster Hopefully, by the time of publication, I will have passed my Brand Management class at WGU online, wherein I help a fictionalized version of Kettle Chips (from back when it only had two flavors and we had a good, sustainable economy here in the United States of Vespuccia, or Columbia, or Magellanea, or Hudsonia, or Ericssonia, or whatever else it could have been called if America was named after any of the other people who discovered it "first") figure out how to expand, and then how to respond to an ethical crisis. Aside from industry lingo, it's childishly simple; almost to the point of boredom. And it's being taught in an endgame college-level course. I haven't glanced at the text more than twice! Anyway, I hope you're doing more than glancing at my text-based content, and please remember to like and comment down below, subscribe to my blog, help out my ad revenue, and check out my social media at the l

GFT Retrospective #48: The Devil's Brother

Image
Article by Sean Wilkinson, a.k.a. the Parrot's Greasy Brother I have a parrot and I fry chicken at a deli. I also occasionally feed my parrot-brother pieces of chicken and he doesn't seem to mind because chicken is delicious. I'm sure there's a Lilo & Stitch  meme I could reference here, but Blogger only shows the first image or video in a post and I want the issue cover to get the feature, so use your favorite search engine to figure out why I'm an abomination instead. Also, that's my tie-in between the a.k.a. and the Zenescope issue up for review today. I hate the focus character, but there's a lot to say about the issue and its fairy tale sources, so please remember to like and comment down below, subscribe to my blog, and follow me on  Tumblr ,  Reddit , and  Facebook  for the latest news on my content, which we'll get into starting now. GFT #44: The Devil’s Brother Fenton sucks. He’s the least likeable secondary villain character since Charle

Article by Sean Wilkinson, a.k.a. The Ticketmaster Nothing personal to share today, except that I have the next three months of Zenescope reviews on Blogger in draft form, so all I have to do is some minor editing, which will be a load off my stiff shoulders for the remainder of the school term. Beyond that point, I'll have to start re-reading the rest of the Zenescope library and writing reviews from scratch. Please remember to like and comment down below, subscribe to my blog, help out my ad revenue, and check out my social media at the links below to keep up with the latest news on my content. Speaking of which, here's the content schedule for the coming week: Wednesday (May 24) -  GFT  Retrospective #48:  The Devil's Brother Thursday (May 25) -  TBT 2023: Beneath the Darkness   (on  Tumblr ,  Reddit , and  Facebook )  Sunday (May 28) -  Time Drops #18: Week Of May 29, 2023 As always, here is my wish list of the stuff that I want to get into this year (no dates): 65 (

GFT Retrospective #47: The Last Unicorn

Image
Article by Sean Wilkinson, The Last Blogger? I wrote the introduction to this review (and the review itself) several years ago, when Donald Trump was in his early presidency, and I was still commuting to work at Subway, maxing out and shuffling my credit cards to fill my soul with nothingness, bootlegging digital paperbacks together in PhotoShop, and writing reviews of their content as I went along. I have since given up on the compilation effort for various reasons, but at the time, I was feeling maddened because I had just finished that whole process on three Wonderland TPBs in a row. You can find them all in a past issue of Zenescope - Omnibusted . Before we get into what I followed that up with, please remember to like and comment down below, subscribe to my blog, and follow me on  Tumblr ,  Reddit , and  Facebook  for the latest news on my content. Trade Volume #1.8 It feels good to finally be done with Wonderland for the time being. Although the franchise has had some cool mome

Article by Sean Wilkinson, a.k.a. The Ticketmaster Same reasoning as last week, but new happenings. The content will be thin again. A lot of my family's logistics issues resolved themselves, but not enough of them. My store is late to the digital coupon game and is the guinea pig for the rest of the chain, so I look "forward" to Hell. Also, I'm having to change my diet to lower cholesterol, meaning nothing that my store has ready-made to eat is anything I can eat. Like an alcoholic working in a liquor store or a recovering crackhead working in a pharmacy. Again, I look "forward" to Hell. I made progress in my coursework and I'm getting more money to work more, so that's good. Please remember to like and comment down below, subscribe to my blog, help out my ad revenue, and check out my social media at the links below to keep up with the latest news on my content. GFT Retrospective #46: Las Vegas Annual

Image
Article by Sean Wilkinson, Chronologically Confused I have nothing clever or personal to say at the moment because there's a lot to unpack with this special issue history-wise. So just please remember to like, comment, subscribe, help out my ad revenue, and follow me on  Tumblr ,  Reddit , and  Facebook  for the latest news on my content. Let's start unpacking! When I was first reading through these comics at a marathon pace, while also trying to be a completionist, I got to issue #43 of Grimm Fairy Tales  (reviewed next week), and saw that it opened with some dialogue between Sela and Belinda where they are talking about how much "fun" Las Vegas was, with a little editor's note referencing the Grimm Fairy Tales 2009 Annual. So in my completionist frenzy, I went down an internet rabbit hole (appropriate, as there was a Wonderland  Annual that year) in search of the GFT  2009 Annual, only to come up with...nothing but frustration. Not only was there not a 2009 An

Article by Sean Wilkinson, a.k.a. The Ticketmaster If you're a human who's been reading my blog, you've no doubt noticed that Just the Ticket underwent a brief style change, and it didn't work as well as I had hoped, so I switched back. To be honest, I didn't like it that much, either. You'll also notice that this week is going to be a bit thin on content because I haven't done any academics for over a month and my mentor and instructors have been messaging me a debt collector amount of times. Not only that, but I'm working more hours at the store now because summer is upon us, leaving me less time to partake of content, write, and study during the week (not to mention the increased housework that comes with the season change and my elderly parents being in the doldrums of a medical shitstorm--nothing serious, just a lot of time management, financial obligation, and logistics to work through). If I don't cut back on something , I'm likely to burn

Just the Ticket #125: ScreaM VI

Image
Article by Sean Wilkinson, Ticketmaster and Ghostface Shiller The original theme has returned, Ticketholders, and the results were immediately evident! People and algorithms like the Dynamic View better than the Simple View. Also, it's Cinco de Mayo and Friday and the Sith of May, so it's only fitting that I review a movie with Hispanic leads and villains in black cloaks who deal in absolutes and use cutting weapons for personal revenge. I'm of course talking about the infamous Star Wars movie, ScreaM VI . I joke, and because I have some real Star Wars  opinions knocking around in my brain, here they are: Speaking of jokes, I think it's cool that two Joker actors ( Mark Hamil and Cameron Monaghan ) have had leading roles in Star Wars properties, and they're two of my three favorite Jokers (the late Heath Ledger being the other, with Joaquin Phoenix and Jack Nicholson being Fourth and Fifth, respectively). On the other hand, I think that making a fun, silly sh
