State Of the TicketVerse Address 2022

Image
Article by Sean Wilkinson, a.k.a. The Ticketmaster 2022 was both a relapse year and  a comeback year for myself and for this blog . Starting with myself, I am still paying off a large amount of gambling debt, to which I added a sizable ambulance bill for my stay at Wenatchee Valley Medical Center to remove my gall bladder and deflame my pancreatitis (you can read all about it in  Back From the Hospital ). The fallout of 2021, which you can read about at the beginning of  Back From Burnout? (MCU Edition) , did not have me starting out 2022 on a coherent or ambitious note. But with some academic pivoting (and the pancreatitis scare putting my life into perspective), I slowly made a comeback, did my best to keep on a routine with both my academics (now in Marketing, rather than Accounting) and my posting, such that I reached heights that I had not experienced since 2015. Even in the face of a less-than-impactful Halloween effort, I did not let the "Now What? Blues" get the wors

TixMas Is Here! 2022: The Retaliators Bring Back the Soundtrack (Just the Ticket #120)

Article by Sean Wilkinson, a.k.a. The TixMaster The day is finally here! And I don't just mean Christmas, either. I've been hearing about The Retaliators  for months now (thanks to Skratch 'n' Sniff's The Retaliators  Halloween Movie Mix ), and not only did I finally get the opportunity to watch it, but I listened to The Retaliators  Soundtrack as well. And guess what? The Retaliators  is a Christmas horror movie! So what better way to celebrate Christmas and cap off my thirteen-day  Countdown to TixMas  special than by reviewing The Retaliators  and its soundtrack!? As I said last time , I struggled with the best way to review these two pieces of media without spoiling one or the other, as many of the songs on the soundtrack are played at key moments in the movie, and snippets of dialogue from the movie are used to introduce some songs on the soundtrack. Thanks to the fortuitous release of Violent Night  this week, I don't have to split them up anymore! Okay,

TixMas Eve Is Here! 2022: Violent Night (Just the Ticket #119)

Article by Sean Wilkinson, a.k.a. The TixMaster Merry Christmas Eve, and welcome to my four hundredth post on this blog! I'd also like to apologize for the change in content of tonight's post. Much like how Adrian Monk refers to his OCD , it's been both a gift...and a curse for the Countdown to TixMas , and for myself. It's been a gift because I have been struggling for several days as to the best way to review The Retaliators and its soundtrack without spoiling one or the other or deflating the significance of my chosen Christmas Day review, and now, I don't have to. But it's been a curse because I planned and scheduled what I would review each day of the special so that I could draft and edit some of my posts in advance, all based on my not being able to review Violent Night . Then, on the twenty-second, Violent Night became available on streaming, and I had to rethink my schedule, which gave me an extra review to write from scratch (now five such reviews i

Countdown to TixMas #11: Fat Man (Just the Ticket #118)

Article by Sean Wilkinson, a.k.a. The TixMaster 'Tis the eleventh day of the Countdown to TixMas , and all is quiet. So I'll keep this short and sweet, just like an elf and his diet. I couldn't get tickets to Violent Night So in today's Just the Ticket , I review that movie, but light. It stars a troubled director with Passion And a Justified  actor who's always in fashion. Like and comment, as I know that you can, And read on as I review 2020's Fatman ! Fatman 's plot is pretty simple: 2020 was a terrible year that inflated the Naughty List and drove Santa's operation into a recession (along with every other business), and a rich, entitled asshole with bad hair who mistreats his family and house staff (a child character in the movie, not the actual, living person you're thinking of...) sends a toy-obsessed hitman to kill Santa when he receives coal for Christmas. Some might balk at the "gritty reboot" angle that Fatman  takes with the Sant

Countdown to TixMas #10: Secret Santa (TicketVerse Trades #14)

Article by Sean Wilkinson, a.k.a. The TixMaster 'Tis the tenth day of the Countdown to TixMas , and one room in my house Is where I sit at my laptop; my finger's the mouse. The lords are a-leaping, to where I know not. I was going to be clever, but then I forgot. I should be sleeping, not blogging; get me to bed. Knocked out like a sugarplum was thrown at my head. Like and comment; it helps more than anyone thinks. For today, I bring you a post full of links! Why call it Secret Santa ? You might as well ask. Because I'm gifting total strangers, in return for their praise. This has been quite a task! I've been at it ten days! Welcome back to the Countdown to TixMas , which will wrap up in three days with three fresh reviews. For now, though, I thought I'd play Secret Santa , and give you all a TicketVerse Trades  compilation of as many past reviews as I could find that are Christmas, winter, gift, religion, or otherwise holiday-relevant. Countdown to TixMas #9: Winter Wonderland (Zenescope - Omnibusted #6)

Image
Article by Sean Wilkinson, a.k.a. The Omnibuster and TixMaster 'Tis the ninth day of the Countdown to TixMas , and this will be long. Four days remain, with ladies dancing to a familiar song. It's not the twelve days of true love's gifts, you must understand, But the one where sleigh bells ring across the land. One bite makes you bigger, one sip makes you small, So like and comment, and take a great fall Down a hole for a rabbit who's running quite late, To a party with warm beverages, and madness so great. So now that this verse has gotten you adjusted, It's time to get epic with Zenescope - Omnibusted ! In addition to the Countdown , I'd like to welcome you all to the Mad Tea Party! Nothing's better during these cold, holiday months than a piping-hot beverage, and I wanted to keep on the pattern of releasing an Omnibusted  compilation on Wednesday, so it's kind of perfect that the next Trade Paperback to release after GFT  Volume 3  was Wonderland .
