Vampires Are Made #26: Isolde

Article by Sean Wilkinson,
Revived HeroMachiner.

It's the final day before I publish I Reincarnated As Prey In A Fantasy World, So I Charmed the Vampire Queen, Ticketholders!
And I still have one more character to push out after this in order to make my deadline properly, so fingers crossed I can do it....
Before I drop the main character, though, here's Isolde. And before you ask, yes, her design is a Gothic Lolita, and no, the character does not and will not serve that purpose in the story, nor will any other character.
I was inspired by the Carmilla archetype (the "secretly smarter, more dangerous, and more mature than she looks and behaves" aspect, not the character's other undertones, because that's gross from all angles).
Her HeroMachine design below is fairly true to the generated chat image, though I couldn't find a long hair asset that I was satisfied with, so I went with the style you see here and changed her hair color to caramel tones because Carmilla pun.
Though I'm not as happy with the scale of her head as I was before I colored and shaded her (I would have to go back and re-size and reposition every individual gradient in her hair and face, and I don't have the time or patience to do so), I am proud of how I posed her to capture the whimsy of her personality.

Name: Isolde
Alias: Issy, "Child Bride," "Young Bride."
Allies: Queen Dara ("Mother"), "Big Sisters" Lilly and Mira, Break.
Enemies: Anyone who threatens her family.
Race: Vampire (former human)
Birthplace: Unknown
Powers/Abilities: Immortality and supernatural strength, speed, and senses as a Thirst-afflicted vampire, empathy, strong intuition, diplomacy, hybrid photographic/eidetic memory (particularly with literature), strong imagination, highly creative, able to assimilate the thoughts, feelings, and emotions of those she drinks from.
Bio: Isolde, the youngest of Vampire Queen Dara's three precious Brides (at least, in appearance), has always been a peculiar individual. Sired by Dara in a despair of solitude that her Majesty has regretted ever since, Isolde was trained to manipulate humans (tactics she employs on her "family" from time to time, as well) in service to her and her Mother's Thirst. However, this macabre upbringing only helped her shed her innate shyness, gave her the time and means to foster her imagination, and strengthened her empathetic nature. This latter quality sets her apart from the other vampires, and makes her an obvious target for those seeking to manipulate their way into the Queen's good graces. As such, Dara is most protective of her, treating Isolde as a daughter rather than the sired Bride she is.
Isolde is drawn to literature, particularly romance novels and stories with happy endings. Her love for literature often finds her lost in worlds of fantasy and fiction (as Big Sister Mira knows well), and yearning for new stories to come from beyond the walls of the Keep.
Oddly, Isolde's empathetic soul melded with the Thirst in such a way as to grant her bite the special properties mentioned above. She never feeds to kill, in accordance with her Mother's wishes (though her Big Sisters are not bound to the same rule), and is unable to sire vampires or thralls of her own.
When presented with a mortal she knows is not to be fed on, and whose past is a novel of the potentially unknowable, will Isolde take up the quill or happily become part of the unfolding narrative?

I have less than twenty-four hours left to create my main character and finish his post before my story's preview publishes, so Stay Tuned, and as always, please continue to support me and what I do by Becoming A Ticketholder (none of you have yet), leaving a comment at the bottom of this post and any others you have opinions about, helping out my ad revenue as you read, and following me on BlueSky, Tumblr, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, YouTube, Patreon, and LinkedIn to like what you see and receive the latest news on my content.
