Time Drops #111: Week of July 27, 2025

Content Calendar Announcement,
Week of July 27, 2025
by Sean Wilkinson,
a.k.a. The Ticketmaster.

Aside from the celebrity death trifecta of Ozzy Osbourne, Malcolm-Jamal Warner, and Hulk Hogan, everything has been coming up Ticketmaster this past week.
For those who are wondering about my thoughts on those deaths, though, Ozzy and Malcolm hit the hardest. MJW was definitely the bigger shock because we've known for a long time (since at least the first season of The Osbournes, which I have every season of on DVD, and it's amazing) that Ozzy was in bad shape. When the news of his death hit, I immediately thought back to the 2019 American Music Awards and his appearance during the "Take What You Want" performance, where he mostly sat on a throne and waved his arms to the music. There's a difference between a celebrity playing up their condition for a laugh (like on The Osbournes) and the audience having a genuine, "Kevin Conroy in a mech suit," "I feel concern for this person's impending mortality" moment (like I had during the 2019 AMAs). The Osbournes was what got me into the music of Ozzy and Black Sabbath (starting with his Under Cover album and working backwards), and what endeared me to him and his family as people—from a distant audience perspective, of course. I love Ozzy, he was a crazy, goofy, dark, fuzzy-hearted badass, and I will miss and honor his presence in this world as he makes his way home to Mama.
I had a much earlier, longer, and more recent connection with Malcolm-Jamal Warner, having grown up watching him as Theo Huxtable on The Spanish Fly Comedy Hour, then rediscovering him as an adult viewer in more dramatic roles like The Resident's charismatic surgeon, AJ Austin, and his brief guest role on 9-1-1. He gave the impression of emotional complexity, physical steadfastness, and good humor; a lover of life with a deep, god-like voice and a presence so warm but formidable that nothing short of a force of nature could hope to match it...and so it was, but too soon in fleeting eyes such as ours—such as mine.
And finally, I come to Hulk Hogan, whose death made me go...huh. I didn't fully get interested in WWF until the tail end of the Attitude Era, and I was merely aware of other promotions like WCW at the time, so I was too late to be swept up in Hulkamania like a lot of my peers would have been as children and I missed out on the NWO bubble until it came back in the buyout Invasion. I barely watched Hogan Knows Best and kind of tolerated Brooke's short stint as a reality/music/acting triple-existence (which is like a triple-threat but without the threat part). And when I grew out of being a wrestling mark (because of the murders and the steroids and the heart attacks) and things started coming to light about the man behind "Hulk Hogan" (the racism, the questionable politics, the lies, the unprofessional locker room ego and bullying he engaged in to keep his character "over," etc.), my reaction was always the same as when I heard that Terry Bollea had died this week (because the original "Hulk Hogan" ideal and brand had perverted and rotted itself to death long before now): huh.
Well, actually, it was more like, "huh. I guess celebrity deaths really do come in threes."
And you know what else comes in threes?
Your mom. Now, let's get back to why everything's coming up Ticketmaster...including your mom.
Sorry; I promise I'm finished.
Anyway,  work is still paying well and leaving me exhausted at the end of the day, and I've lost ten pounds from rigorous exercise, sweating, and developing better eating habits....

What? What did you expect me to say next? That's it; I'm taking better care of myself this week. Stop reading into things!
I mean, I've still got a bit of a toxic attitude, but I've been feeling really good about myself most days, and my brain is no longer fixated on a certain 90s harmonica band's anti-commercialism anthem.
On top of that (must...not...say it...!), I've finished watching My Hero Academia: Vigilantes and the rest of the movies, I've edited and added some new content to the Update review, and I just need to draft and finalize my thoughts on Vigilantes in there before I publish. So set the date because August 4th, I AM HERE!
also decided for my mental health that I would find an excuse to not finish reviewing the Curse movies because Blood Sacrifice was so hard to get through and I'm the one in charge here, so read on into the schedule to find out what the first Friday in August has in store. Otherwise, my future plans for Just the Ticket haven't changed much. That means the Just the Ticket for the second Friday in August will still be Akira! And I intend to squeeze as many Anime Spotlight issues and Japanese or Japanese-adjacent film reviews into Anime August as possible. Unfortunately, I still haven't touched Dexter: Resurrection yet, so that review won't be coming for quite some time.

Keep reading after the normal-sized calendar for more on my future content plans, and please remember to comment at the bottom of my Blogger posts, Become A Ticketholder because I know you haven't already, help out my ad revenue as you read because I may still end up needing that five dollars, and follow me on social media at the links below to like what you see and to receive the latest news on my content and calendars thereof.
Here it is:

  • Saturday (August 2) - Time Drops #112: Week of August 3, 2025
And that's it for July (and a little August), Ticketholders! So much for my "I'm not going to produce very much this month" announcement, huh?
