Just the Ticket #97: Agents Of Ultron

Image
Welcome, Holders Of Tickets, to another long-awaited issue of Just the Ticket! Today's installment does the crossover thing, following the Marvel Cinematic Universe into the Age Of Ultron . We begin with a Critical Quickie of the miniseries (pilot season?) Marvel's Agent Carter. The show picks up shortly after the events of Captain America: The First Avenger, and follows Cap's first love, Peggy Carter, as she deals with 1940's chauvanism and tries to thwart a post-WWII terrorist plot before her coworkers hang her for treason. Agent Carter continues Captain America 's feel of old-world-meets-modern-tech-and-beyond, appealing to young and old audiences alike without becoming another attempt at capturing the cheese-factor of that era's cinema (although the included "Captain America" radio serial serves that purpose along the way). The series stands alone, but also ties in with other MCU projects by bringing back Howard Stark and the Howling Commando...

Bring Back the Soundtrack #5: Love Story

Holleratchee, and greetings of all kinds, Ticketholders! It's been a long time since I posted anything to the Ticket verse. Between remixes, Heromachine, work, my novel (which I started over roughly five times, after writing over a hundred pages that ultimately went nowhere) I haven't had the time or desire to keep up with all the new movies, books, and music that comes out. Then there was this: Like all great music that draws my attention these days, I heard about Yelawolf's Love Story album on Skratch 'n' Sniff, promoted through the single, "Til It's Gone," which was also featured in an episode of Sons of Anarchy. I immediately started looking through his old material, and discovered that he had worked with big names like Eminem, Travis Barker, Kid Rock, and Ed Sheeran. Although first deemed too obscure for the mainstream, Yela has proven that he can spit rapid-fire rhymes in step with Shady (also the producer on Love Story ), and shatter genre ...

Witches Are Made #20: Femme Fatale

Tonight, I hit you with a little twist of fate by sharing with you my Elemental Witch of Fate. Last year, when I was designing the Clockwork characters, I took inspiration from a public domain Golden Age heroine called Lady Luck, and created an Old West gunfighter of the same name. Since the inception of my version of Lady Luck and the time-traveling Tempora, I have shown you Elemental Witches of Space (Alice Gladwell), Fire (Theodora Kindle), Water (Linda Norgood), and Metal (Farrah O'Ren). I intend to re-brand Lady Luck as the Elemental Witch of Luck, but in life we cannot have Luck without Fate. Name: Death Rose Alias: Destinee la Mort Team Affiliations: Coven du Sort, le Milieu, The Hit Squad Enemies: Lady Luck (I), Fifth Hour, Sextant, Coven of Adh Race: Human Birthplace: Derry, Ireland Powers/Abilities: Manipulation of probability and chance, Expert marksmanship, can predict (and sometimes cause or prevent) any person’s impending death, including her own. Bio: The Coven of...

Hope you're liking the remixes so far. I've got nothing clever to say right now, so just check this out because it's badass. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xh9BPz4Dv90 Ever wonder what Lil Wayne sounds like over "Back In Black?" Didn't know Jonathan Davis from Korn and Jim Root from Slipknot covered "Got Money?" Ever get the idea to blend Rihanna and Jay-Z into "Got Money?" Well, this remix has all that and a bag of bitchin'. So get clickin' y'all. I just finished another Elemental Witch character for my [Fill In the Blank] Are Made  column, so stay tuned for that coming up soon, as well as another Fort Modest Mashup Issue . As always, you can find the Skratch 'n' Sniff radio show on  iHeartRadio  Saturday nights from 11pm-1am. DJ Timedrop, the only nerd that remixes your interwebs, Timedropping out.

Witches Are Made #19: No Place Like Home

Image
That's where I spent my day off today, just clicking my fingers, keys, and mouse buttons together and trying to make magic happen, and I was successful. I have completed two characters in the past three days (only one of which I will share with you here because the first character I finished would be a spoiler if I showed you now). I chose to name this post "No Place Like Home" because my latest character is an Elemental Witch based on Glinda of the North from The Wizard Of Oz . She has not yet been included in any contests (although my other character was entered into an Insect/Archnid/Crustacean-Inspired Characters Contest and failed to place in the polls despite the prevalence of less impressive designs), but I plan on using her in something soon, should the right contest open up. Here's Linda Norgood, alias Hidrea, the Elemental Witch of Water: Name: Hidrea Alias: Linda Norgood Team Affiliations: Coven of Tonnta, Atlantis (Irish/Atlantean dual citizenship) ...

DJ Timedrop here again to let you know that I put another Fort Modest mashup on YouTube just now. It's the second Fort Modest "video" I've posted so far, and I like where the album-in-progress is going. Check out "Ocean Breathes Salty Where You Go (feat. Holly Brook & Jonah Matranga)" by clicking the video or the link below. This remix uses the following songs: Fort Minor - "Where'd You Go? (feat. Holly Brook & Jonah Matranga)" Modest Mouse - "Ocean Breathes Salty" http://youtu.be/zsD8tKv5vjs As always, I hope you enjoy my work as much as I enjoy putting it out for you. Stay tuned as my Fort Modest series continues and prepare yourselves for the next Elemental Witch character from my Heromachine side project. I hope to have her ready for you in a few days' time. Until then, Tune in, Turn on, and Timedrop, out.
