a.k.a. The Indecisive 41-Year-Old,
a.k.a. The Ticketmaster.
Happy Birthday to me, Ticketholders!
I'll get to the indecisive part later, but for now (since my Ticketholders seem to like hearing progress reports on the family garden and chores), there's a "funny" story where two years ago, we ordered a load of gravel to spruce up our driveway (when we still had a car), and due to an accounting error, we ended up with ten times the amount that we wanted, and no attempt was made on their part to recollect the excess.
But, after two years of shoveling, raking, and otherwise distributing it across our property, we've at last made contact with a different business (a local landscaper) who agreed to take and repurpose our excess gravel. On Thursday, they carted off half of the load, and as of yesterday, the other half is gone as well. I can already tell that May is going to be a great month!
As for the garden, we got everything arranged and planted, so all that's left to do is keep our various tomatoes, peppers, peas, onions, and perennials watered, the weeds dead, and the lawn (or patches thereof) short.
Okay, now for the indecisive part.
The first bit has to do with how I mentioned last week that May would be a movie-themed month (let's call it Maniac May, shall we?). To fill four weeks, I thought I would cover the 1973 horror/crime thriller, The Psychopath, its 1986 short remake, Maniac 2: Mr. Robbie, and the 1980 and 2012 versions of Maniac. I have watched The Psychopath to the best of my ability and found it too lacking for a lengthy discussion this week, so instead, I will be combining that review with my thoughts on the Mr. Robbie short.
The next change has to do with the superhero theme of this month's Anime Spotlight posts. I had originally intended to include a My Hero Academia update that includes my thoughts on the sixth and seventh seasons, and perhaps the newest movie. But my impressions of the new seasons are no longer fresh (hence a re-watch is in order), the You're Next movie's availability in dub form was long in question, and the Vigilantes spin-off just started releasing weekly episodes, so...I'm not going to do that. No further changes to this week's schedule; I'm just going to do something different (with heroes of the non-super variety) when that week comes.
Work hours are picking up again, so instead of not writing as much because I get lazy and depressed, I'll be writing less because I'm working or exhausted.
At least I have most of my AniMonday content scheduled through May.... And you can still expect the Punk Hazard issue of the One Piece Multi-Piece some time in June. This is a promise.
Fleeting as it can be (especially with me changing my mind about a few things this week) and as inconsequential as my place in things is, I ask that you at least trust me on that, and please remember to comment at the bottom of my Blogger posts, Become A Ticketholder because I know you haven't already, help out my ad revenue as you read, and follow me on social media at the links below to like what you see and to receive the latest news on my content and calendars thereof.
Here it is:
- Monday (May 5) - Anime Spotlight #46: Gridman Universe
- Wednesday (May 7) - GFT Retrospective #93: Jack the Giant Killer
- Thursday (May 8) - TBT '25 (on BlueSky, Tumblr, Reddit, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and LinkedIn): Man Of Steel
- Friday (May 9) - Just the Ticket #177: The Psychopath & Maniac 2: Mr. Robbie
- Saturday (May 10) - Time Drops #100: Week of May 11, 2025
Though I've yet to make any progress, I'd still like to cut together an e-book of my
GFT Retrospective reviews through the Dream Eater Saga material, with Zenescope's blessing.
Ticketmaster,
Out.
