Just the Ticket

On top of the Fear Street trilogy and the TV series I'm reviewing today, I've also been watching the first season of Yellowjackets on Netflix because Paramount+ (like a broken floor scrubber) has a lot of buffering issues. All three are either set in or flash back to the 90s, and include a lot of the same songs and relationship dynamics (troubled same-sex couple, love triangle, toxic relationship, etc.). So the plot points and characters start to bleed together (heh; horror puns...) after awhile. But that doesn't make them bad products on their own merits. October has been rough for the past two weeks thanks to Hurricane Milton knocking out at least two thirds of my usual view count, but we're back. By which I mean the committee of legally distinct Inside Out -inspired Variants of myself that turn the reels of self-defeatist dialogue in my head, because I'm still the only one writing, editing, and promoting this supposedly outdated medium of mine. That said, I'm keeping up pretty well, and as of this publication, I will be going on my first first date ever, so wish me luck. Article by Sean Wilkinson, a.k.a. the Ticketmaster Last week, I reviewed the 1995 Goosebumps TV series , the research for which informed me that, following his early work as "Jovial Bob" Stine , R.L. Stine received the recommendation to try writing horror for a teen audience, and so began writing the Fear Street  series, for which his wife, Jane Waldhorn , created Parachute Press as an intermediary publisher in their dealings with Scholastic (which now owns Parachute as part of the later resolution to Stine's contract dispute and falling out with the larger publisher-turned-multimedia company). So, I was Last Week Years Old when I learned that  Goosebumps  was actually Stine's second major book franchise, once he had figured out how to write horror for younger audiences and was asked to write another series that skewed younger than Fear Street . First of all, doing the Mother Nature arc as individual issue releases hasn't been as good for analytics as I expected. Part of this, I'm attributing to Hurricane Milton knocking out some people's ability to access my content. The rest, I'm attributing to the fact that not having a fairy tale source to do comparative analysis with, combined with having five issues in a row on the same subject, has made these past few posts feel thin and repetitive...from both ends. In the past, I have done story arc-based posts as one, bundled review (see my posts on what I called The Redemption Arc and The Song Of Ice and Snow Arc ). But that was when I had an offline backlog to work with. Now, I'm less sure not only of my ability to read and review multiple issues in a week while also attempting to review entire television series , but of what I will be reviewing ...

Despite some release delays for this past week (which, along with Hurricane Milton, has wrecked view analytics for the month, but I'll see how this post does), I'm keeping up pretty well. With the biggest hurdle behind me ( the 1995  Goosebumps  show ), I've finished my re-watch of the  Fear Street  trilogy, and I'm halfway through the ten-episode first season of the Disney+  Goosebumps  reboot, which leaves the two movies.
